Originating centuries ago and refined through generations, Vietnamese Sơn Mài is distinct for its depth, luminosity, and durability. Unlike Western lacquer, which is typically a surface varnish, Vietnamese sơn mài is a labor-intensive process that can involve up to 20 layers and months of meticulous work, revealing hidden beauty through careful abrasion and polishing. Today, it stands as a proud symbol of Vietnamese craftsmanship and artistic heritage.

Exclusive Vietnamese Lacquer Technique

Vietnamese lacquer painting, known as “sơn mài”, is a traditional art form that combines natural lacquer from the sơn tree with layers of color, gold or silver leaf, and intricate hand-polishing techniques.

Each dial is meticulously drawn and painted by hand, with every color applied individually. We've developed an exclusive technique that adds depth to the design before applying the 15 layers of lacquer, creating a rich and dimensional finish.
